Summary

You will play an essential role in overseeing a variety of custodial tasks to maintain clean and safe buildings and grounds. The person responsible will perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may also include notifying management of need for repairs and cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks.

This role requires a person who can work as part of the sanitation team but is also comfortable working independently.

Essential Functions
  1. Coordinates the removal of recyclables and solid waste in designated areas.
  2. Service, clean, and supply restroom facilities.
  3. Properly follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to building and fixtures.
  4. Vacuum, sweep, wet mop, dust, polish and disinfect designated areas within the facility.
  5. Notifies managers concerning the need to repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  6. Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter, glass, or other debris.
  7. May perform ground maintenance including snow removal and salting of sidewalks.
Measures of Success Review of documentation indicates incumbent:
  • Achieves high audit scores on all internal, 2nd and 3rd party audits pertaining to areas of responsibility
  • Incumbent knows proper use and amounts of sanitation chemicals
  • Ensures proper use and amounts of sanitation chemicals
  • Understands and follows SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Follows food safety and quality assurance standards (cGMP, HACCP, GFSI, etc.)
Supervisor’s judgment that incumbent:
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Properly notifies applicable departments on noted non-conformance and needed repairs

Essential Functions
  1. Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning duties.
  2. Restocks single use items in designated areas within the facility.
 
Measures of Success Review of documentation indicates incumbent:
  • Properly communicates and/or orders needed supplies to ensure no cleaning downtime
  • Properly restocks single use items to ensure minimum audit scores are achieved in the applicable area where this item applies

Essential Functions
  1. Promotes and adheres to safety requirements. Follows safe working practices in the execution of their assigned duties. Actively participates in general site and departmental Safety initiatives.
  2. Accepts accountability for own personal safety and identifies potential unsafe conditions to help prevent self and co-workers from being injured.
  3. Complies with all site security requirements.
  4. Monitors plant conditions and ensures that work areas are organized, free from hazards, and that the plant floor is clean.
  5. Ensures that actions do not create a negative impact on the environment.
Measures of Success Review of documentation indicates incumbent:
  • Attends and can provide documentation of compliance with plant safety and required training

Position Qualifications

Education:
Requires basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English, and grammar equivalent to a high school education or GED.

Experience:
Recommended a minimum of three months on the job experience to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions furnished in written or oral form and deal with problems involving standardized situations
• Perform the basic functions of arithmetic; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
• Perform reading, writing and speaking at a minimal level.
• Ability to work under general supervision to perform the functions of the position.
• Basic end- user computer skills
